When it comes to quality surfboard craftsmanship, Chris Christenson is one of the most respected names in California. Known for his versatility and attention to detail, Christenson shapes a wide range of boards, from retro fishes and longboards to some of the best big-wave boards in the industry. Christenson has shaped boards for some of the best surfers on the planet, including big wave pros Ian Walsh and Greg Long. He also collaborated with snowboarder Jeremy Jones, shaping the Jones Storm Chaser, which is a swallow-tailed fish-style snowboard.
Christenson has been shaping since the age of 18. Mentored and influenced by Dick Brewer and Skip Frye, he is a consummate professional and known for his classic lines and clean aesthetic. His longboards, mid-lengths, fish shapes, and other twins are especially popular with the California crowd, and to complement some of these shapes, Christenson has developed his own set of twin fin templates with FCS II. The Christenson Twin draws from the upright keel fin design, complementing it with a full tip, less-curved trailing edge, and extended sweep to create a high-performance the twin that lends itself toward aggressive turns off the bottom and snappy responsiveness in the lip. This fin is a great way to spice up a retro fish, giving it a touch more control and maneuverability without compromising that classic fish feeling.
