Hawaiian South Shore stands apart in Honolulu's crowded surf retail landscape. What began with lessons in entrepreneurship from my grandmother's meticulous business practices in Okinawa has evolved into a 30-year cornerstone of Hawaii's surf community.
Our journey wasn't always smooth sailing. When we first opened at our Ward Avenue location, established shops blocked our access to desired brands. Rather than surrender, we pivoted—first to LA clothing brands, then into skateboarding with our 320SS line, before finally breaking into the surf industry through key relationships with legendary shapers.
This ability to adapt while maintaining unwavering quality standards defines who we are. From my early days bridging communication at my uncle's construction company in Okinawa to my transition from military service to entrepreneurship, every experience has shaped Hawaiian South Shore's commitment to excellence.
